My name is Shawn Babcock and I’m a Staff Sergeant in the Army. I have been on multiple deployments to Iraq (3) and one to Afghanistan. I’ve just recently returned from deployment where I was stationed at FOB Salerno in the Khowst Province of Afghanistan. I have had three different body armor systems; OTV, IOTV, and the Plate Carrier System from your Company. I have to say, I like yours the best.
On March 15, 2010, I was just outside of the FOB on a foot patrol when I was struck in the back by a single 7.62mm round. The round went through my camel back hydration system and lodged into my KDH plate carrier.

Needless to say the plate carrier works great and I prefer it over the other systems that I have used in both theaters. The plate carrier system works well with the load out that I prefer to carry and it allows a lot more range of motion inside of the vehicles, regardless if it’s a MRAP or a Blackhawk helicopter. Plus it is a heck of a lot cooler than the other systems I have used.
Even though the Army replaced my SAPI plate, I had to continue to use the damaged plate carrier as plate carrier systems were hard to come by, and it held up – the bullet hole never got any larger nor did it fray out.
Thanks KDH – great product!!!
Sincerely,
SSG Babcock, Shawn L.
